Big Changes Coming to Westwood Dental Guelph — Here's What's Driving Them!

A sneak peek at what's ahead. This is a rendering of our new Westwood front desk — a glimpse into what you can expect when our renovation is complete in 2027. We can't wait to welcome you into the new space!

As the person behind the camera, the captions, and the day-to-day storytelling for Westwood & Starwood Dental, I spend a lot of time thinking about how to show people who we really are — not just what we do in the chair, but why we do it.

So when I found out we're getting ready for a major renovation at our Westwood location (we're just waiting on permits before we can break ground), I knew this was a story worth telling before the work even starts.

A Team Guelph Can Be Proud Of

Westwood & Starwood Dental has been part of the Guelph community since 1977. Today, our team has grown to over 25 people across both our Westwood and Starwood locations — hygienists, assistants, front desk, and dentists who've built genuine relationships with the families they see, some for decades.

Every time I'm filming in-office, I'm reminded that this renovation isn't just about the space — it's an investment in the people who show up here every day, and the community that keeps choosing us.

Training the Next Generation

Part of what makes this moment meaningful is that we're not just serving patients — we're actively shaping the next generation of dentists. New associates who join our team go through formal mentorship with our senior dentists, hands-on training in specialized techniques like airway-focused and MASPE+ care, dental implants, Invisalign and real on-the-job learning alongside experienced clinicians every day.

It's a level of investment that goes well beyond a typical onboarding process, and it's exactly the kind of story I think deserves more visibility.

"The biggest thing that's shaped how I practice is the emphasis on mentorship and learning from more experienced clinicians. Working at Westwood Dental alongside Dr. Bull has given me the confidence to ask questions, think critically, and always look for ways to improve the care I provide my patients." — Dr. Willie Cygelfarb

A Different Way of Thinking About Dentistry

Child Airway Assessment
Airway assessments start early, this little one handled hers like a pro

We look at more than just teeth — breathing, sleep, and jaw development all play a role in your child's overall health. Catching things early can make all the difference.

A lot of my work is about translating our whole-body, airway-focused approach into content people actually connect with — looking beyond "fix the tooth" to show how oral health ties into breathing, sleep, and overall wellness. That same philosophy is shaping how we're approaching this renovation, and how we're designing the Westwood space for what's ahead.

Giving Back to the Community That's Given Us So Much

Nearly 50 years in Guelph has taught this team that a dental practice is only as strong as the community around it. Philanthropy has always been part of who we are — from our annual free dental day to our ongoing work with Gift From The Heart — and it's some of the most meaningful footage I get to capture.

"I truly believe in what we bring to our patients and our community, and this renovation feels like an exciting next chapter in that journey. Seeing our team invest in a space that lets us do even more of what we already love — caring for patients, supporting our community, and creating meaningful ways to give back — means so much to me. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together, and excited to share what's next!" — Lisa, Marketing Manager

'Helping people just feels good'— that's what our team said again and again during Gift From The Heart, where patients lined up as early as 4:00 a.m. for care, and reminded us that giving back changes the givers just as much as the community.

Why We're Sharing This

As we wait on permits and prepare for what's ahead at Westwood, our whole team — from Lisa to Dr. Cygelfarb to everyone who walks through our doors every day — wanted to put into words what this renovation actually means to us. This isn't just a marketing story; it's something this entire team genuinely believes in.

And while we can't share all the details yet, we can say this: we're planning some exciting giveaways for the renovation. Stay tuned — details coming soon.

We'd love to connect with others in this community who care about the same things we do: investing in people, training the next generation, and giving back.

This team shows up for Guelph in a way I don't think people realize until they see it. Grateful to get to tell these stories.
